CIA Chief’s Havana Visit Sends Signal to Cuba
(MENAFN) CBS News, referencing several anonymous insiders familiar with the discussions, revealed on Friday that CIA Director John Ratcliffe allegedly brought an operative connected to the apprehension of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the fatalities of Cuban officers in Venezuela to an extraordinary gathering with Cuban representatives in Havana last week.
According to the report by CBS News, Ratcliffe presented the individual during conversations with top-ranking Cuban authorities and identified him as one of the agents who participated in the January operation aimed at Maduro. Cuba, which maintained a strong alliance with Venezuela before Maduro’s detention, previously announced that 32 members of its military and police forces lost their lives during the mission.
The article stated that the gesture was interpreted as a deliberate signal to Havana amid escalating friction between the United States and Cuba. The CIA reportedly declined to provide any statement regarding the matter, according to CBS News.

A CIA representative informed CBS News that Ratcliffe communicated Washington’s readiness to cooperate with Cuba on economic and security concerns only if Havana introduces substantial political and economic reforms.
