Man remains in critical condition after third shark attack in Sydney
Emergency services were called to a beach in Manly, roughly 10 km northeast of central Sydney, shortly before 6:30 p.m. local time on Monday, after reports of a shark attacking a man.
News outlets stated that the victim sustained severe wounds to at least one leg and was pulled from the water unconscious.
Multiple ambulances and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene, where intensive care paramedics treated the man on the beach.
Earlier on Monday, an 11-year-old boy avoided injury after a shark bit his surfboard at a beach in Dee Why, about 5 km north of Manly.
The Monday incidents followed a Sunday attack in Sydney Harbor, in which a 12-year-old boy was hospitalized with critical injuries. Police reported on Monday morning that the boy remained in intensive care and commended his friends for rescuing him from the water.
