Afghan Officials Incinerate Seized Narcotics in Takhar

(MENAFN) Afghan authorities on Wednesday incinerated hundreds of kilograms of illegal drugs, which had been confiscated during a series of anti-drug operations in northern Afghanistan's Takhar province, provincial police spokesman Nizamudin Omir confirmed to a news agency.

The seized items comprised heroin, hashish, opium, stimulant pills, and various chemicals employed in drug production, Omir stated.

He added that these substances were intercepted from smugglers and unlawful manufacturing sites, thereby preventing their distribution to both domestic and cross-border markets.

Omir highlighted that the destruction of the drugs conveys a clear warning to traffickers and demonstrates the government’s dedication to fighting narcotics.

In recent years, Afghan authorities have conducted raids on cultivation areas, laboratories, and trafficking networks to safeguard public health and enhance security across the region.
