Vance states Trump weighing providing Kyiv with long-range rockets
Vance stated that President Donald Trump will be the one making "the final determination" regarding the request.
Kyiv has repeatedly urged its Western allies to supply long-range weapons capable of striking major Russian cities far from the front. Ukraine argues that these weapons would significantly damage Russia's army industry and put an end for the war.
Ivan Havryliuk, the deputy defence minister told a news agency "if the cost of continuing the war for Moscow is too high, it will be forced to start peace talks."
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin representative, downplayed Vance's proposal stating there was "no panacea that can change the situation on the front for the Kyiv regime."
He also added that "whether it's Tomahawks or other missiles, they won't be able to change the dynamic."
With a range of 2,500 km (1,500 miles), Tomahawk missiles could potentially allow Ukraine to target Moscow.
