Algeria denounces US after attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities

(MENAFN) On June 22, Algeria issued a firm condemnation of recent US airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites, expressing serious concerns about the potential impact on regional stability, according to a statement from the Algerian Foreign Ministry.

The ministry voiced “deep concern” and “profound regret” over the escalating violence triggered by the bombings, describing the military actions as a “blatant disregard of repeated international calls for a ceasefire and diplomatic negotiations.”

Algeria warned that the ongoing escalation threatens to drag the region into “unprecedented danger with unpredictable consequences” and called for a peaceful resolution to the nuclear dispute with Iran.

“The priority must be an immediate return to dialogue,” the statement emphasized, reaffirming Algeria’s adherence to the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter and international law as essential to achieving lasting and just peace.

The US strikes followed a series of Israeli attacks since June 13 against multiple Iranian targets, including nuclear and military sites, which resulted in the deaths of several senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

In response, Iran launched missile and drone strikes on Israeli territory. According to the Iranian Health Ministry, more than 400 people have died and over 3,500 have been injured in Iran as of Saturday, while Israeli authorities reported 24 fatalities.
