Iran Pledges to Proceed with Nuclear Enrichment

(MENAFN) Iran’s nuclear enrichment efforts will proceed unabated within the boundaries of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), stated Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi on Monday.

A local news agency reported Ravanchi’s remarks, emphasizing that despite recent military actions by Israel and the United States, Tehran remains committed to uranium enrichment.

“No one can tell us what we should or should not do as long as we move within the framework of our obligations under the treaty,” Ravanchi declared during an interview with a German news agency.

The announcement follows a statement from US President Donald Trump on Sunday, who confirmed American military strikes on Iran’s key nuclear sites at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.

The US assault involved dropping six bunker-buster bombs on the Fordo facility using B-2 stealth bombers, complemented by numerous submarine-launched cruise missile attacks targeting the Natanz and Isfahan locations.

This operation marks a recent escalation in a campaign backed by the US and conducted by Israel against Iran, ongoing since June 13, which has triggered Iranian retaliatory missile strikes against Israel.

Israeli officials reported that Iranian missile attacks have resulted in at least 25 fatalities and left hundreds more wounded.

Conversely, Iranian health authorities confirmed that the Israeli offensive has caused at least 430 deaths and injured over 3,500 individuals within Iran.
