Russian Governor declares woman murdered in Ukrainian drone assault on Russian regional capital
The strike, which occurred on Tuesday, triggered a fire and caused the station’s building to collapse. Emergency services swiftly responded and managed to recover the woman’s body from beneath the rubble. Gladkov also warned of the potential for additional drone strikes in the area.
Three women and a man sustained moderate injuries and were hospitalized. Local emergency teams and volunteer defense units are currently clearing debris and securing the site.
Russia’s Emergencies Ministry reported that over 50 responders and 23 pieces of equipment were involved in the operation. The Russian Defense Ministry added that more than 100 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight, including 20 over Belgorod Region. Debris from one drone injured an eight-year-old boy in the regional capital, who was hospitalized with blast-related trauma.
Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure have intensified significantly since mid-May, coinciding with renewed peace negotiations between Moscow and Kiev. The strikes reportedly reached a peak in late May, when Russian forces claimed to have shot down over 2,300 UAVs.
