Kremlin Urges Ukraine to Acknowledge “New Realities”
Speaking to a Russian economic news channel, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Peskov emphasized that "Ukraine will certainly have to understand that the situation has changed compared to what it was three years ago."
He implied that Kyiv still does not fully comprehend this shift but added, “Apparently, not to the end (they don’t understand), but at least they probably carefully read the text of the memorandum that we handed over.”
He highlighted that the document Moscow presented defines the “new realities” Ukraine must acknowledge moving forward.
This, according to him, sets the stage for deeper negotiations.
Peskov pointed out that existing humanitarian arrangements have laid the groundwork for more meaningful dialogue.
He said, “The fact that many wounded young people were given the opportunity to return home is a very important result,” referring to a significant accomplishment of the current negotiation efforts.
Regarding the possibility of a pivotal summit, he suggested that a trilateral conference involving Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “should be the result of long-term work and already prepared points.”
Additionally, Peskov stated that Israel has offered guarantees ensuring the security of Russian personnel working at Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, amid mounting tensions in the region.
