Israel Plans Striking Iran’s Fordow Nuclear Site Alone
"Israel has a plan for Fordow and the ability to carry it out on its own," the unidentified source conveyed to a journal.
The official did not reveal specific information about how this operation would be conducted. Fordow, a deeply entrenched site, lies about 30 kilometers (20 miles) from the city of Qom in the heart of Iran.
Ehud Eilam, who previously worked as an analyst for Israel’s Defense Ministry, mentioned that Israel might utilize a large quantity of compact penetrator bombs designed to reach fortified objectives.
He pointed to earlier strategies, such as the elimination of Hezbollah’s chief Hassan Nasrallah last September inside a protected underground shelter in Beirut, as a potential framework for how Israel could proceed with Fordow.
He also suggested Israel might consider high-risk special forces missions or more discreet approaches like cyber operations and precision assassinations.
Fordow is considered among Iran's most crucial nuclear facilities. Its placement deep within Qom's mountainous terrain makes it extremely difficult for standard aerial assaults to succeed.
Israeli authorities maintain that Iran is nearing the point of developing a nuclear weapon—an assertion that Tehran strongly refutes.
Iran insists its atomic activities are solely for civilian and peaceful ends.
The atmosphere in the region has become increasingly volatile since Friday, when Israel executed air raids targeting various Iranian sites, including military and nuclear installations. In response, Iran launched retaliatory attacks, further amplifying tensions.
