Pakistan Urges Action for Iran, Israel Ceasefire
He emphasized that any additional intensification of the conflict would not only harm the surrounding region but also threaten worldwide stability.
Speaking during a Cabinet session held in Islamabad, Sharif reaffirmed the Pakistani government's backing of Tehran and strongly denounced what he described as Israel's "naked" aggression targeting Iran, according to reports from Pakistan's official television broadcaster.
His comments were made shortly before Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, was expected to meet US President Donald Trump at the White House later in the day.
Sharif also stated that he had already communicated with Iran's president to deliberate on the developing crisis and to express Pakistan’s unwavering support and unity with Tehran.
Previously, officials in Islamabad asserted that Tehran holds the legitimate right to self-defense in response to Israeli offensives.
The prime minister also voiced strong criticism of Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza, accusing Tel Aviv of perpetrating a wave of "brutality."
The conflict has grown more intense since Friday, following Israel’s aerial bombardments on various targets inside Iran, including defense and atomic sites.
These actions led Tehran to retaliate with its own counterstrikes.
