DNA Tests Identify 206 Victims of Air India Plane Crash
Out of those identified, 169 bodies have already been returned to their families, officials confirmed.
The tragedy unfolded on Thursday when the aircraft crashed into the hostel area shortly after taking off.
By Saturday, local news outlets reported the death toll had climbed to 274 as recovery teams uncovered additional remains amid the debris. Initially, Air India confirmed that 241 of the 242 passengers aboard had perished.
Remarkably, only one passenger survived the catastrophe by leaping from the plane prior to the crash.
