IDF declares Iranian centrifuge, missile locations targeted in airstrikes
According to an IDF statement, over 50 Israeli fighter jets participated in the operation, which aimed to disrupt Iran’s nuclear and missile development efforts. One of the primary targets was a centrifuge facility near Tehran, which the IDF claimed was intended to enhance Iran's uranium enrichment capabilities for potential nuclear weapons production.
In addition to the centrifuge site, Israeli forces also struck several factories producing missile parts. The IDF asserted that Iran’s current uranium enrichment—reaching 60% purity—exceeds levels necessary for civilian use and forms part of a broader effort to develop nuclear weapons.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) later confirmed that two centrifuge-related facilities were hit in the strikes. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the agency identified the affected sites as the Tehran Research Center and the TESA workshop located in Karaj, just west of the Iranian capital.
Despite Israel’s allegations, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi told CNN that the agency has no evidence of a systematic Iranian push toward developing a nuclear weapon.
The airstrikes follow rising tensions and ongoing indirect talks between the United States and Iran. Late last week, Israel had already targeted multiple Iranian military and nuclear sites, reportedly killing several high-ranking commanders and scientists. Iran retaliated with missile attacks on Israeli territory.
Russia, which had previously offered to mediate between the two nations, condemned Israel’s actions and warned that continued aggression could further destabilize the region. The Russian Foreign Ministry urged Israel to halt its attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities immediately.
